Reading these changes
The latest tables summarize Blizzard's October 15 development notes, published just after midnight UTC on October 16 and checked that day. They describe announced gameplay changes. The build comparison separately reports packaged records, matching server-cache changes and source catalog additions. Client build numbers alone don't establish server hotfix behavior.
High ranks no longer prevent another druid from applying Rejuvenation.
Faerie Fire and Omen of Clarity
Free Faerie Fire casts in Cat, Bear or Dire Bear Form cannot trigger Omen of Clarity. Bear and Dire Bear casts now generate threat. Multiple Faerie Fire debuffs no longer stack.
Shred
Rank 1 is trained at level 20 instead of 22. Its tooltip now includes Savage Fury correctly; that correction does not change damage.
Feral talents at login
Heart of the Wild, Feral Swiftness, Thick Hide and Leader of the Pack apply correctly after login.
Insect Swarm
Multiple applications no longer stack their hit-chance reduction.
Moonkin Aura and Leader of the Pack
Both affect the raid. Moonkin Aura affects spell critical chance; Leader of the Pack affects melee and ranged critical chance.
Furor
Preserves the Energy from the last Cat Form even after entering Bear or Dire Bear Form. Those bear forms still prevent Energy regeneration.
Requires standing still for 0.5 seconds before firing. It can still fire during casts such as Aimed Shot or Sniper Shot. Drawn arrows are visible again.
Traps
Fire traps scale with Attack Power. One Fire Trap and one Ice Trap can be active together.
Pet stats
Pets benefit from Expertise and inherit the higher of the hunter's melee and ranged critical chance.
Dismember
Crocolisk healing reduction falls from 50% to 25%, duration from 10 to 6 seconds, and cooldown rises from 6 to 15 seconds.
Sonic Blast
Bat cast-speed reduction falls from 60% to 30%, duration from 30 to 20 seconds, and cooldown rises from 30 to 60 seconds.
Mine!
Bird of Prey disarm lasts 3 seconds instead of 4, with a 90-second cooldown instead of 60.
Summon Hawk
The hawk spawns on the chosen target and stays with it.
Improved Mend Pet
Reduces Mana cost instead of increasing it.
Trueshot Aura and Sniper Shot
Trueshot Aura affects the raid. Sniper Shot benefits from the previously missing Marksmanship talents.
Strider Kick and Resourcefulness
Strider Kick works while disarmed or without a main-hand weapon. Resourcefulness reduces its Mana cost and activates only from melee or ranged ability critical strikes, not traps.
Predator's Edge
The tooltip specifies that its critical damage bonus applies to abilities.
New level-24 spell with a 1.5-second cast and a 40% movement slow. Frostbolt talents affect it. It provides a short slow cast while older Frostbolt ranks retain their downranking penalty.
Presence of Mind and Missile Barrage
Presence of Mind is consumed correctly. Missile Barrage no longer benefits a second Arcane Missiles cast.
Missile Barrage
Moves to the first talent row with two ranks. Arcane Missiles hits can also trigger it.
Arcane Blast
Cast time is 1.5 seconds. Each cast grants spell damage equal to 15% of Intellect, up to four stacks, while also raising Arcane Blast cost. The effect lasts 15 seconds from its first application instead of ending with the next spell. Base Mana cost is unchanged; damage and spell coefficients fall 40%.
Arcane Wrath
New 16-point talent: a 3.5-second cast with Fireball-like base damage and additional scaling as though spell power were increased by 5% of maximum Mana. Cooldown is 6 seconds.
Heating Up
Presence of Mind prevents Pyroblast from consuming Heating Up. Fire Blast always adds one charge, or two on a critical strike.
Improved Fire Blast
Replaces Wake of Fire. The kill bonus is removed, and Fire Blast range increases by 8/15 yards.
Critical Mass
Has five ranks for up to 10% critical chance.
Fire Power
Has three ranks. Each of the mage's eligible Fire effects increases Fire damage by 1/2/3%, capped at 12%. Ignite, Improved Scorch, Fireball, Pyroblast and Impact qualify. Frostfire Bolt benefits but does not add a qualifying effect.
Clearcasting
Rolls once rather than for every target hit. Dampen Magic, Amplify Magic and out-of-combat casts cannot trigger it.
Frost Channeling and Ice Block
Frost Channeling reduces threat correctly, and Ice Block is no longer overly transparent.
Frostbite and Fingers of Frost
Can trigger from Ice Armor and Frost Armor.
Ice Lance
The damage bonus against frozen targets is 200%, down from 300%.
Cone of Cold
The first four targets receive an additional 10% slow and 3 seconds of duration. Its visual position is adjusted.
Winter's Chill
Frostbolt, Frost Blast and Fingers of Frost-empowered Ice Lance have a 20/40/60/80/100% chance to add a stack. Each stack adds 5% damage taken from the next Cone of Cold and 7% of spell damage, up to five stacks. This matches the current client and the later of two descriptions in the official notes.
Replace Blessing of Salvation and Greater Blessing of Salvation without excluding other blessings. Revoke is learned alongside Salvation and removes either effect from a party or raid member.
Seal of Fury
Power Word: Shield no longer overwrites it. Rank 3 is trained at level 26, correcting level 25.
Righteousness and Fury scaling
Judgement of Righteousness and Judgement of Fury use the correct instant-spell coefficients. Seal of Righteousness no longer gains nearly twice the intended benefit from spell damage.
Consecration
Spell power coefficient per tick falls from 0.095 to 0.042.
Righteous Fury
Bonus threat from Holy damage rises from 60% to 90%.
Light's Vigil and Infusion of Light
Focus macros target Light's Vigil correctly. Infusion of Light no longer grants Holy Shock an unintended 50% damage increase against enemies.
Shield Specialization
Restores 4% Mana instead of 6%, retaining its 3-second internal cooldown.
Reckoning
Stores up to four charges. The next automatic melee swing consumes all charges for one extra attack each, preserving the swing timer when instant attacks are used.
Champion of the Light
Spell damage from Intellect falls from 20/40/60% to 10/20/30%.
High Renew ranks no longer block another priest's Renew. Holy Fire rank 5 no longer deals more periodic damage than rank 6.
Power Word: Shield
Reports when an existing shield is stronger and no longer duplicates the SHIELDED combat-text message.
Devouring Plague and Shadow Word: Death
Devouring Plague cooldown falls from 60 to 24 seconds. Shadow Word: Death cooldown rises from 12 to 18 seconds and correctly benefits from Shadowform critical damage.
Mind Vision and Inner Focus
Mind Vision no longer interrupts the target's drink. Inner Focus affects only one spell, including when another spell is queued during Penance.
Divine Aegis
The tooltip specifies non-periodic critical heals and the maximum shield size.
Power in Light and Silent Resolve
Power in Light benefits Smite and Penance when the target has Holy Fire or Shadow Word: Pain. Silent Resolve reduces threat for all spells.
Mental Strength and Improved Power Word: Shield
Mental Strength moves from row 4 to row 2 and increases Intellect by 2/4/6/8/10%. Improved Power Word: Shield moves from row 2 to row 3.
Twin Disciplines
Benefits Shadow Word: Death, Mind Flay, Starshards and Penance.
Devouring Contagion
Spreads to two targets. Bounces no longer cost Mana, play a cast animation or restart the caster's Devouring Plague cooldown.
Vampiric Embrace
Cannot be resisted; cooldown falls from 60 to 30 seconds.
Shadow talents
Improved Fade and Shadow Infinity are removed. Improved Mind Blast moves from row 3 to row 2.
Dark Inspiration
New row-4 talent: Mind Blast and a fully channeled Mind Flay increase the caster's and party's Spirit by 3/6/9/12/15% for 10 seconds.
Improved Mind Flay
Each damage instance deals 10/20% more damage than the previous one.
Shadow Weaving
The tooltip specifies that its increased damage taken applies to damage from the casting priest.
Totemic Recall training costs 22 silver instead of 70. Grounding Totem is destroyed after redirecting a spell.
Totem buffs
Grace of Air can coexist with Windfury or Flametongue, which remain mutually exclusive. Grace of Air, Strength of Earth, Windfury and Flametongue affect the raid. Windfury and Flametongue affect players only.
Chain Lightning
Mana cost falls by approximately 35% at all four ranks.
Fire Nova
Spell power coefficient falls from 0.214 to 0.143; base damage and Mana cost also fall. Trial By Fire now updates the tooltip correctly.
Clearcasting
Cannot be spent by the Fire Nova that activates it or by Lightning Overload activations.
Elemental Mastery
Returns as the 31-point talent, requiring Lava Burst. For 15 seconds, Lightning Bolt and Lava Burst cast 0.5 seconds faster and Chain Lightning has no cooldown. Cooldown is 3 minutes.
Lava Burst and Earthbound
Lava Burst moves to row 5 as the 21-point talent, loses its prerequisite and gains rank 4 with redistributed rank levels. Earthbound moves to row 4 as the 16-point talent.
Elemental prerequisites
Elemental Fury requires Lightning Overload; Lightning Overload requires Elemental Alacrity. Elemental Alacrity moves to row 2 and Elemental Warding to row 3. Call of Thunder is removed; several columns change.
Elemental Reach and Call of Flame
Elemental Reach also reduces Totemic Projection cooldown by 10/20 seconds. Call of Flame also extends Flame Shock by 3/6/9 seconds.
Stormstrike
Costs 8% of base Mana instead of a flat 125. Missed spells and other players or pets no longer consume the debuff.
Mana Tide Totem
Adds a level-38 rank, producing training levels of 25, 38, 48 and 58.
Restorative Totems
Improves the whole Healing Stream Totem effect rather than only its base value.
Tidal Focus and Totemic Focus
Swap places: Tidal Focus is in row 1 and Totemic Focus in row 2.
Water Shield
Can trigger from any critical spell cast by the shaman, rather than only critical heals.
Combat visuals
Windfury Weapon attacks appear as white hits. Chain Heal gains a small green accent.
Slam ignores spell pushback. Overpower can activate against much lower-level enemies.
Weaponmaster's Sword Specialization
Cannot trigger from Shield Bash or Shield Slam.
Lingering Rage and Improved Berserker Rage
Lingering Rage no longer prevents out-of-combat health regeneration. Improved Berserker Rage removes movement-impairing effects correctly.

Undead
The health-drain racial has a 25-second internal cooldown, a 30% proc chance for casters and 20% for paladins, rogues and warriors. Shadow damage modifiers and lower spell ranks no longer alter it. Its visuals improve. Will of the Forsaken is unavailable during Scatter Shot. The notes call the drain both Touch of the Grave and Touch of the Dead.
Gnome
Eureka! becomes an 8-second buff without charges and also benefits Power Word: Shield. The notes flag its use during stealth or invisibility as an issue.
Night Elf
Quickness movement speed stacks with other movement bonuses. Shields are hidden in Wisp Form.

Fixes unintended duplicate quest-item drops and sharing of quests that start from items or give an item when accepted. Escorts can start when the quest log contains 25 or more quests.
Druid quests
The Great Cat Spirit and The Great Windborne Cat Spirit grant their loot reliably. High Order Skyborne can learn Cure Poison through Power Over Poison.
Darkshore and Mulgore
Repairs Tharnariun's Hope during Plagued Lands and adds Kyle's Gone Missing!
Deadmines and Ruins of Lordaeron
Destruction in Deadmines and A Frightened Request sort under their dungeons in the quest log. Players can no longer receive duplicate Bloodied Insignias.
Dun Morogh and Loch Modan
Shimmer Ridge trolls respawn more evenly and faster in affected areas. Trogg respawns slow slightly for In Defense of the King's Lands.
Orgrimmar and Redridge
More Smooth Boulders are available for Rocks to Rests. Blackrock Blockade and its spawn rates are updated.
Wailing Caverns
Serpentbloom Snakes despawn after a few minutes.
Westfall
The Forgotten Heirloom pocket watch respawns less often. Undead for Collecting Memories and Foreman Thistlenettle for Oh Brother... respawn faster.
Races, interface and world
System
October update
Gnome Eureka!
No longer benefits periodic effects; channels do not count as periodic effects for this rule.
Undead Cannibalize
Cannot be used while immune to physical damage.
Downranking tooltips
The character sheet explains that ranks far below your level lose spell-power benefit and trigger class effects less often. Blizzard gives rank-1 Frostbolt at level 60 a zero chance to trigger Frostbite.
Barbershops
Added in Darnassus and Thunder Bluff. Barbers are present and guards give directions.
Cooldown Manager
Adds racial abilities and rogue support; duplicate spell-rank entries were removed.
Gamepad
Updates pet stables and party/raid management; repairs action-bar macro movement. UI bindings stay fixed when keyboard/mouse bindings change.
Character and combat display
Character-creation icons match Standard Definition models. Stable and combo-point artwork is updated; loot rolls display full player names and auctions show item suffixes.
World instances
Party leaders should remain in their current instance when party composition changes.
Visual fixes
Rain is more visible and equipped weapon sizes are more consistent across races. Ray Traced Shadows is temporarily removed.
Night Watchman's Torch
Fixes lag and allows the effect to be cancelled.
Known issues recorded on October 1
This is the issue list published with the October 1 build. It does not establish which problems remain in the current beta.
System
October update
Casting visuals
Queued spells can delay their next precast animation and sound until the previous cast finishes.
Close-range attacks
Enemies can parry and block attacks from behind when the attacker is too close. Keeping a little distance was the suggested workaround.
Installation and gamepad
The installation is larger than intended. Switching gamepad UI mode resets the active edit-mode layout.
Mage research and scrolls
Learning Research can leave it inaccessible. Scroll of Liminal Passage does not work correctly.
Spell interactions
Some debuffs, including Faerie Fire and Demoralizing Shout, do not generate threat. Retribution Aura uses the target's spell power. Eureka! misses some eligible spells.
Dual Wield Specialization
The original issue list reports hit chance affecting both weapons. The October 2 revision above announces its correction.
Quest objects
Taillasher Eggs for Break A Few Eggs respawn too slowly.
Visual and sound issues
Dwarves lack updated water-splash sounds. Anduin Wrynn and other children appear with unintended hats.
